The Tweed Valley Banana Festival has been running since 1956.

It is established as a non-profit charity and in more recent years  it has with the valuable help of many generous business

sponsors provided the Tweed valley with a platform for the raising of funds for a number of charities. Each year the festival,

through its volunteer workers and the entrants in the Queen, Teen Queen, Prince and Junior and Senior Princess events

has raised and distributed in excess of $15000 to various charities as well as provide a mix of free and commercial

This has included a family fun day in the park, fashion parade and ball. Other events have combined to help and take advantage

of the advertising the festival provides for the Tweed Valley and its community.

The festival is a valuable resource providing experiences for quest participants in public speaking, developing confidence and

having an enjoyable time.  The queen and teen queen entrants in particular develop skills and confidence in speaking before various audiences as well as the information from tours of the valley which will make them Ambassadors  for this wonderful valley we occupy.
